USB Power Delivery 3.1 (PD 3.1) changed the ceiling of USB-C charging from 100W to 240W. That is enough to fast-charge gaming laptops, monitors and even some power tools over a USB-C port.
How EPR works
PD 3.1 introduces Extended Power Range: voltage steps up from the classic 5V/9V/15V/20V to 28V, 36V and 48V. At 48V/5A the cable carries 240W. The device and charger negotiate voltage before EPR is enabled, so legacy devices are never exposed to high voltage.
The cable is the bottleneck
240W requires an EPR-certified 5A cable with an electronic marker chip inside the connector. A standard 100W cable will cap charging regardless of the charger. Our BK-C001 is a true 240W PD 3.1 cable with 40Gbps data and 8K video support.
Buyer checklist
Confirm: EPR/240W marking, 48V/5A rating, e-marker chip, and 100% function testing before shipment — a standard step in BEARKOO production.
